Those bastards are just north of phone book sized. Being overall satisfied with Dan's writings I decided to pick up the Eisenhorn omnibus a while ago and finally sat down and got to reading it. My first foray into the world of Inquisitors was the Eisenhorn omnibus by Dan Abnett, which collects the novels in the titular trilogy plus two interconnecting short stories. I would not recommend this Ominbus as an introduction to the Universe of 40k however, unless the idea of the Inquisition is especially appealing to the reader. The fantasy game Warhammer 40000 (aka Warhammer 40K) has spawned some excellent tie-in fiction that will appeal to crime fiction fans. I have to say overall that I liked the I actually enjoy omnibuses, at least of Warhammer 40k books, because they're usually about $15 and contain three or four books which individually would cost $24-32 (Averaging about $8 a book) and it takes up less shelf space than the individual books. It follows the adventures of Imperial Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn and his associates over the span of several centuries. Truth be told I have been wanting to do the Inquisition proper since I first started modeling, since it was the Eisenhorn Omnibus that got me back into 40k in the first place. David and I have both had a hankering for Warhammer 40K inspired fiction of late. Eisenhorn: Malleus & Hereticus by Dan Abnett posted on the Books discussion board by Werthead. The retinue is getting quite large now at least 50 strong. To defeat his enemies, which also risks cliche until Abnett throws a couple of clever curve-balls towards the reader in the closing chapters (the motivations of the antagonist are well-thought-out, making good use of the Warhammer 40,000 universe though, once again, foreknowledge of The book is available as part of the Eisenhorn omnibus now in the UK and USA. I preserved my sanity by rediscovering Warhammer 40K, this time in the omnibus editions of the Black Library novels I found in the local Barnes & Noble. The hook occurred with the first sentences of Ian Watson's magisterial trilogy The What makes Eisenhorn different from the usual Black Library volume is it spends most of the time amongst the ordinary and everyday in the grim 41st millennium. It was a nice re-introduction into this world. In my case, I'd love to reread Dan Abnett's amazing work for that brand, including Eisenhorn, Ravenor, and the Gaunt's Ghosts novels–but I own them in omnibus print editions.
