Ten years ago, without warning, the magic failed. Los visitantes dicen que las piedras mismas brillaban con una luz interior, y que la ciudad contenía maravillosos portentos arcanos. Like many books that I enjoy, I picked up Elantris and put it back down a lot. It is a review of one of my favorite reads of this past summer. Sanderson is one of the new generation of fantasy novelists who may have read Tolkien, but feels no obligation to duplicate his work. Elantris was the capital of Arelon: gigantic, beautiful, literally radiant, filled with benevolent beings who used their powerful magical abilities for the benefit of all. A stand alone, a story that could be told in the space of one novel. As Sanderson explained on his blog, he wanted the book to be a one-off. Elantris was once a beautiful city of marble and light, a city of men and women who had become like Gods. I think she may have suffered from the sheod and just doesn't want to admit it. Elantris is Sanderson's first book. Elantris was the centre of Arelon, a place of magic, healing, and incredible wealth, and a home to people transformed by the magic they wielded into shining silver demigods, magicians of the Shaod. But we review some of the best books of 2011, look at some hot new ones coming out soon, and wrap-up our final thoughts on Elantris. Christmas is almost here, and I have a present that should warm you up! I agree with what he's said in the post, by the way. O que eu posso dizer de Elantris é que as aberturas das três partes do livro possuem uma ilustração que é importante para história. Elantris is his debut novel, and is perhaps one of the worst offenders. It is an extraordinary achievement for a debut novelist. Brandon Sanderson enters the epic fantasy fold as a fully developed talent with better pure storytelling chops than many veterans.
